The Crosspointe Church Story

In January of 2012, the CCI Solutions team met with the Crosspointe Church team at their outdated and outgrown campus in Yorba Linda and listened to Crosspointe describe urgent plans to build a new campus for their growing congregation.But as often happens in construction projects, plans changed multiple times,with locations and timing changing throughout their journey. Finally, in 2016 Crosspointe Church committed to building their new church campus inside a corporate park area in East Anaheim, CA.

Big dreams and a new prime location set the bar high for this growing church, and by 2017 the empty building shell began to take shape as a new ministry center. Focused on authentic relationships and evangelism, Crosspointe places a high value on being relevant not only in communication, but also inits creative and engaging environments. The Crosspointe team partnered with CCI Solutions, engaging in a full design build process with our exclusive Accelerated Collaborative Design workshop, to design audio, video, and lighting systems that fully equipped their ability to create and communicate in their new space.

The Technology

With studio quality musicians leading their musical teams, it was critical to have a sound system that could keep up with the ever-changing and flexible needs of the team while providing impeccable clarity, consistency, and intimacy for the audience. In this 1,100 seat auditorium, an L-Acoustics speaker system delivers all that and more, featuring main arrays of ARCS WiFo loudspeakers,5XT’s as front fills, SB18i subwoofers for low frequency, all powered by LA4x amplifiers. Mixing duties and audio routing are handled by Yamaha with a CL5 at Front of House, TF Rack at Broadcast, with both mixing inputs and outputs routed via Dante networking from the Yamaha RIO stage boxes. Wireless audio in the system is all handled by Shure, with ULXD wireless microphones on the input side, and PSM 300’s delivering in-ear monitoring, with some stationary musicians mixing monitors from their Digital Audio Labs Live Mix personal mixers.

 Lighting also needed to play a part in keeping the Crosspointe worship experience intimate, with an added desire for maximum creative flexibility, but with a low maintenance lighting package that wouldn’t require changing lamps and gels. An all-LED lighting system was designed for this space, with both key and fill lighting coming from Chauvet Professional lighting fixtures. A mix of the Ovation series ellipsoidal and Fresnel fixtures provide the key/front lighting, and Colorado 1 Tour fixtures handling the fill lighting. Color, spot,and effect lighting is provided through Chauvet Professional Rogue R2 Spot and R2 Wash fixtures. Rounding out the 100% LED lighting system are the house lights, the industry leading Chroma Q Inspire RGBA house lighting fixtures. Lighting programming is handled by the Chamsys MQ60 lighting console, while architectural controls are by Interactive Technologies.

 Maintaining an intimate environment was a key project goal, with all 1,100 seats focused towards center stage no matter what was happening, including video playback. When video has to win no matter where you are in the room, CCI Solutions turns to Absen LED video walls. The D3+ LED video wall featuring 3.9mm pixel pitch created a center focus stage center, commanding the attention of the audience with its brightness, contrast, and clarity advantages over projection options. Combined with the ultra-wide viewing angles on the LED video wall, one single screen could capture 1,100 people with ease.

While much attention was invested in the room experience, Crosspointe Church remains focused on taking their message outside their walls. A small broadcast video system effectively captures their services and takes that to the world via live and on-demand streaming. A Ross Carbonite Black Solo and NK router handle all of the switching and routing of the various video camera and computer graphic inputs, with Panasonic AG-HPX270 PJ cameras serving as the lens through which the experience is captured. Marshall Electronics displays and converters round out the video system, with a Clear Com intercom system providing communication between the separately located FOH booth and video suite.
